Ranjit Nanda, started his golf career as a player at the age of 10 years in 1968 and after winning the Junior Amateur Golf Championship of India in 1976, continued playing competitive golf and representing India. He was the No.1 ranked amateur golfer in India on the Indian Golf Union merit list in 1983. His interest developed further in golf course design which involved study in diverse subjects, such as agronomy, civil engineering, irrigation hydraulics, golf course design principles, golf course construction techniques, turfgrass management, turfgrass disease identification and control. He finally started the organization formally in 1986 as Ranjit Nanda & Associates. With his over 35 years experience in golf facilities around the world and with his diverse knowledge on all aspects of golf including golf course design and golf course development, he is considered a pioneer in professional golf design and development in the country. He was inducted into “PGA of India Hall of Fame” in 2005 for his pioneering contribution to development of Golf in India.
Ranjit Nanda is the only Indian who is an active 35 year member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA)
The first major assignment to him was to prepare a detailed topographical survey of 250 acres in 1989, where the client was to make a championship golf course of 27 holes. Eventually, the project to develop the same golf course including its construction was entrusted to Ranjit Nanda & Associates. The design of this 27 hole golf course was prepared by third generation Golf Course Architect Hawtree of the United Kingdom. There was no looking back after 1989 and since then, Ranjit Nanda & Associates Private Limited have been involved in major golf projects including planning, design, consultation, execution and construction supervision. RNA’s role encompasses all facts connected with the establishment of a Golf Course, from concept to completion. Besides design, construction and supervision, Ranjit Nanda & Associates Private Limited are also Consultants on maintenance and up gradation of many established Clubs in the country such as Royal Calcutta Golf Club, Kolkata; The Tollygunge Golf Club, Kolkata; Willingdon Sports Club, Mumbai; DLF Golf Course, Gurgaon, Haryana; Golden Greens Golf & Resorts Ltd, Gurgaon, Haryana and Courses in Kashmir.
